Information to the organizers
The Janssen Center issues two calls for proposals during the year. The applications received are then examined by the Center’s Scientific Council. Decisions are communicated within 2 weeks of the Scientific Council meeting. These calls for proposals cover two semesters (January-June and July-December). The projects that arrive after the deadline are examined within the limits of the funding available after considering the requests received in time.
Proposing an event
Any member of Paris Observatory can propose an event to the Janssen Center. Applicants should submit a short proposal including a summary of the scientific rationale and a preliminary program. For more information, see this page. It is possible to co-organize the event with people from outside the Observatory (the month of guest professor funding can for instance be used for this purpose).
In practice
After approval by the center’s scientific council, a notification is sent to the applicants. The credits obtained will be transferred to the applicant’s laboratory. The organizer will then have to contact the management department of his laboratory to define the general lines of the event, to establish the use of the budget and to plan the reservation of the rooms.
The organizer must write a short description of the workshop and its objectives, which will be published on the center’s website. If a website has been created, a link will be placed with the presentation of the workshop.
